Carrie Holzman-Little has been a busy free-lance violist here in Southern California for the past 30 years. She received a Bachelor of Arts from University of California at Santa Barbara. She has been fortunate enough to study with many illustrious music teachers such as William Primrose, Ron Copes, Heiichiro Ohyama and more. Carrie has been the assistant principal violist of the Pasadena Symphony for 30 years and has been a member of the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra since it’s inception. Carrie was the acting personnel manger of the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra from 2007 to 2009. Carrie is currently the personnel manager for the Long Beach Symphony Orchestra (2009 – present) as well as Orchestra Santa Monica (2008 – present). She hires musicians for The Music Paradigm, a group based in New York City, as well as overseeing the hiring of orchestras for the All Saints Church of Pasadena, Pasadena Presbyterian Church and Pasadena First Methodist Church. Carrie has a private viola teaching studio where she teaches violist from 9 years old to adults. She is the viola section coach for both the Verdugo Young Musicians Association ( VYMA) and The Pasadena Youth Symphony Philharmonic (PYSO). She is also a founding member of the Crown City String Quartet which is based in Bend, Oregon. Recently, she has joined the viola section of The LA Baroque ensemble. In her spare time she loves to participate in Ironman long distance triathlons. Carrie lives in a 100-year-old house in Pasadena with her cellist husband, Dane Little and their 20 year old spoiled cat named Yam.
